Yiddish Word of the Day:
Futz
Futz
Pronunciation: FUHTZ
Definition: waste time (usually "futz around").
Example Sentence: Will you stop futzing around? I’m trying to forget how bad the Percy Jackson movies were and you’re distracting me.
Some Fun Thoughts:
Weird etymology today: Futz comes to us perhaps part modification, perhaps part translation of the Yiddish arumfartsn zikh, which means, literally, to fart around. So, that seems like a good note to end on today.
I’ve futzed around enough with etymology to know it goes downhill from literally farting around.
