Definition: a scandal, embarrassment.
Example Sentence: Did you hear about the Baker boy? Uh huh, with the bread and the unicycle and the farmer’s daughter. What a shande!

Have you ever messed up? Like really bad? And then you worry people are talking about it? Like, I don’t know, for example: maybe your mom made you go to school when you had a stomach bug and then you threw up in front of your class and it was super traumatic because that cute girl you had a crush on was in the class and she saw it happen and now you have no chance to take her to formal because you’re “throw up guy”; so your mom picks you up and you’re crying and she starts crying and she holds you in her arms and says, “Don’t worry about it, sweetie,” and she wipes a tear from your cheek, “No one would be that mean and talk about that,” and you try with all your might to believe her and you finally fall asleep hoping she’s right… woah, that was strangely specific.

Anyways, your mom lied to you! Not only were they talking about it, but this is the word that they were using: shande. “Oh, what a shande,” the kids said to their families. Then their families went to tell other families: “Oh, what a shande.” Isn’t that just horrifying? Doesn’t that make you squirm?
